green for peace
GP(Green for Peace) an outstanding environmental & social-welfare organization of CUET . In 1998 some of youths of CUET grouped to see their motherland more greenery, free from unawareness, free from pollution, environmental hazards and danger free world. There dream had came true on that year on 5th march. They made an unity and named GP(Green for Peace) which is now doing it works earnestly. Their first establishing president was Eng. Arif Chowdhury of EEE department. It works mainly on environmental research & development, tree plantation, their monitoring breeding, different types of seminars, symposiums, rally, showdown etc. It arranges to concern the people about the environment and it’s hazards which we are facing or may will have to face. It also does some other social-welfare works like vaccination program, blood donation program, winter cloth distribution among the poor, indigenous fruit festivals(to grow awareness about the importance and food value of our locally produced fruits) etc. Some of it’s plans that have included which is also praiseworthy :
1. Gardening for Breeding tree plant.
2. Producing and providing medicinal tree and also to save rare/extinct(appro.) tree plant.
3. Publishing souvenir named “Green Book” for both teachers & students.
4. Smoking & drug free campus.
5. Corruption free social life.
……It is also running some other programs such as it celebrates national days i.e 5th June of World Environment Day, International Mother Language Day of 21st February, Independence Day of Bangladesh at 26th march, Victory Day of Bangladesh of 16th December, Pahela Baishakh of 14April etc, International Tourism Day of 27th September & so on.
It has taken also some valuable tasks for Chittagong city like safe driving, pollution free environment, proper sanitation,recycling & waste management etc. To safe the only natural fish breeding river in the South Asian region i.e. Halda, the organization works together with the Civil Engineering Department of CUET.
Voting for Sundarban, Cox’s Bazar, campaigning on global warming at engineering view and many other works are their regular events on any occasion
It is working through three sections:
1. Climate Zone,
2. Donor Club,
3. Adventure Club.
Climate Zone: This club is running from the beginning of GP(Green for Peace). It works for the welfare of our environment as well as our student & social environment. Every year it celebrates the world environment day with a vast program schedule like seminars on global warming, climate changing awareness by mass contact signing ceremony, distributing plants among the students & teachers, placards, festoons, banners, posturing , wall magazines & many other programs. (arrange fruit, flower, herbal/pharmaceutics plant festive every year)
Donor Club: It established in 2003 & since than it has been arranging some social-welfare activities like HBs vaccination to make the student society free from Hepatitis-B virus risk free, blood donation with the help of Shandhani(CMC branch) to help the dying poor patient as well as the students. In the future it will arrange more effective events & programs.
Adventure Club: It established at 2009. Since the establishment, it has been arranging tours to view our own homeland which teaches us to love our homeland & discourages the students from any harmful addiction & smoking. Here especially noticeable that all the members of Green for Peace are promised to be free from drug addiction. GP Adventure Club already arranged tours to the Seeta Pahar, Rangamati, Bandarban-Kaokradang Hill, Bogalake & so many. It is running some courses like first aid camp, wild life surviving, basics of photography & so on.

you may feel proud when you see such youths that are doing these type of social works sacrificing their own small amount of money bring from their home and ignoring their enjoyments. It is the mankind that have ever seen and GP(Green for Peace) dictates such kind of youths in the CUET of Bangladesh.
